"[A] solidly researched, lovingly written memoir--and a splendid detective story...This wonderfully intricate, rumpled, generous narrative would be a joy even without the final lagniappe of about two dozen hard-won recipes."To enter to win this book, all you have to do is leave a comment on this post. What to say? If you've ever made homemade pasta (I have with delicious, though rustic, results), tell us how the experience was. Or tell us your absolute favorite pasta dish. Comment before Sunday June 7 at noon eastern, after which the random integer generator will do its work. Be sure to leave some way for me to contact you (email address, link to blogger profile page, link to website, facebook or twitter page) if you win. Sorry international, Hawaiian and Alaskan friends, but this contest is limited to readers in the continental USA only.
Good luck! (Now aren't you dying to go look up lagniappe?!)

I would love to win this book - my husband works in Hoboken :-). I've never made homemade pasta but it is on my bucket list.
Ooh, this book has been on my "to-read" list for awhile now!
I made homemade pasta with my mom once, years and years ago. Delicious but a little time-consuming.
My absolute favorite pasta dish is penne a la vodka. Mmm...cream sauce.
I make homemade pasta often. I recommend everyone try it. It's not as difficult or time consuming as you might think, but even if it were the results would be worth the effort.
More than anything, I love the tactile sensation of making pasta. It is gloriously meditative. I also use a hand-cranked pasta machine that my grandfather gave my mother when she was a newly-wed. This pasta maker is older than me, and I love that it has familial significance.
I live 2 hrs from Chicago. I LOVE Chicago. I love to eat at Frontera Grill and Bices. I love the art museum and the Field museum.
I have made homemade pasta. It was good but we don't eat enough of it to make worthwhile. My favorite pasta dish is Spag. Carbanara.
I found a pasta machine at a thrift store last summer for $3! I have had a lot of fun with it, with pretty good results. The book sounds like a wonderful read:)
I would to learn how to make some homemade pasta!!!

Although I have never made homemade pasta before, my Hubby has and it was GREAT!!! I would love to surprise him one day from work with fresh from scratch pasta. being that he is full blood Italian...that would be a blessing to him.
Once again, thank you for hosting this great give-a-way!

I'd love to win that book - it sounds divine. We occasionally make filled pastas. But I loved most seeing lagniappe used in context! My husband knew that term from living in NO.
I love to make pasta, I love to eat pasta, I love to photograph pasta..... what's not to love??
Isn't it one of the top 5 perfect foods?
mmm, pasta.
My favorite pasta is my homemade lasagna. I put tons of veggies in it.
My husband is Italian and I remember when we were first dating his mother and grandmother having towels with pasta drying all over the house.
I have yet to make homemade pasta.
I made pasta once, with a friend's pasta machine and it was fabulous! Unfortunately, in the past few years, I just haven't had the time.
My e-mail is jakannan@vt.edu.

I bought the pasta roller attachments for my Kitchenaid Mixer last year but have tried making pasta only once so far. It was edible but not wonderful. I've been concentrating on breadbaking so far this year, but perhaps I'll give pasta another try this summer.
I tired to make homemade pasta once. The recipe was Four-Meat Ravioli. This cookbook had great picture instruction for making pasta. I wanted to surprise my boyfriend at the time with this great Italian birthday dinner. I did a good job until I place the ravioli in the boiling water to cook and they fall apart. I end up ordering pizza. I will give homemade pasta another try. Practice make perfect.

I've made ravioli several times. Ravioli is so deliciously simple, it amazes my children how easy it is. I'd like to try tortellini sometime. I love the tortellini in soups.
My pasta adventure started with sweet potato gnocci... I was so enamored by the idea of two of my favorite things together in one perfect bite sized it overwhelmed my cooking sensibilities. Outcome not so great, but a good adventure nonetheless. :)
I've only made gnocci, but I make it all the time now, it freezes well.

I'd love to make homemade pasta but so far I haven't. My favorite pasta dish is a lasagna with spinach, black beans, some alfredo and some marinara. Yum!
We make homemade pasta all the time! Ward uses a method he learned from one of Jamie Oliver's books, and it is so fast and so easy that we don't ever think about storebought pasta anymore!
I make pasta every once in a while, but I always find ravioli more satisfying.
